Headphone in-line mic problems

I just bought skullcandy 50/50 and Fix headphones and the mic does not work on either headphone set. It works on my old Nexus S. It works on iPods around the house, but not on my GS3 or my Xoom.

Any ideas?

It's interesting that the headphones would have worked on the Nexus S. Headphones with in-line mic are usually either Apple compliant or the standard, which is different from Apple. Headphones designed to work on Apple devices typically will not completely work on other devices due to the reversal of some of the wiring. When looking at headphones make sure you do not buy ones that state that they are designed to work with iPhone/iPod. I have Klipsch headphones that I can't use for the same reason.

its like my sony ericsson headphones dont work on samsung. pity its not universal amung androids
