Headphone Mic Not Working On S8+?

Everytime I use headphones and I want to take a call with them on, the mic never works on my phone but on other devices the mic works fine. I always have to unplug the headphones and use the phone's mic. I can use headphones to listen to audio just fine but I can't use their mics on my S8+. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Are those the headset that came with the phone or did you check if they're compatible? Headphone jacks for headsets, unfortunately, might have different wiring depending on the device (for instance, older iPhones couldn't use headsets shipped with Android phones and viceversa). If the wiring in your headset doesn't match that of the S8, then either the mic or the control button (or even the audio on each earbud) might not work properly.

They aren't the ones I got when I bought my phone but when I got them, it said they were compatible for Android.

Yeah, unfortunately that means squat as you have hundreds of different Android phones. The wiring is usually manufacturer-specific, and even Samsung changed theirs from the S5 or 6 onwards I believe (so older sets will kinda work... control button will not respond).

First rule out a hardware issue by using the headset that came with your phone. If that works properly, then you know it's a headset 'problem' and not something wrong with your phone.

Well, I have the same problem on my s8+....Actually the voice goes through the phone mic when "AKG" headphones are connected while the mic in headphones is not working but the sound comes through it normally.....I tried another AKG headphone from a note 8 along with alot other headphones and the same problem...I tried my AKG headphones on other phones and they work normally...

When I had my AKG headphones they did work but other headsets don't. Even for headsets that are Android compatible. I'm not sure if they'll still work now because they're broken. I had no headset problems with my S7 out the box
