I have had my phone for about a week and on Tuesday my phone started randomly turning they headphone volume all the way up or down while listening to music. I had installed ifttt earlier in the day, I uninstalled and the problem stayed. I tried different headphones yesterday and they problem went away, the ones that had an issue were skullcandy Inkd 2 earbuds. Has anyone else had this issue?

If your issue wasn't apparent at first but occurred after you installed an app, then I'd suspect the app--especially if the Skullcandy earbuds worked previously without incident.

This isn't a commonly reported issue. I'd try a reboot without the suspected app and then test with the Skullcandy Inkd 2 earbuds.

Sometimes android will turn the volume DOWN due to some EU-mandated unsafe volume level warning if you have it up too high. Then when you try to turn it up again, it will ask you if you're sure. Once you say yes, it will allow you to use that higher volume for some period (days) before turning it down again. The only time I have ever had the volume go UP by itself is because I have a tasker profile/task that does that when I plug in a headphone jack.

I have had a similar warning pop up on other phones, but not this time. I deleted the app and have restarted the phone a couple times. I am using skullcandy jib headphones now and am not having the issue. The Inkd have an in line controller but don't do the same thing with my S5.

I'll probably do a hard reset this weekend and see what happens.

Edit: I am now having the same problem with the Inkd headphones on the s5 looks like it is the headphones and not the phone at all.

Yay. No need for FDR then!
