Headphones icon missing on Note , how can I get it back?

Headphones icon missing on Note 3

I haven't used headphones since March 20th (someone stole them), but today when I connected (original) ones from the Samsung - icon was not showing on the notification bar. Headphones and buttons on the microphone are working just fine. It's very frustrating because I know that icon was showing before.
I have tried (un)plugging them for a couple of times, restarting the phone, but nothing helps.
I have Lollipop 5.0.

The headphone icon is gone in Lollipop. Don't see it on my Note 4 either

But my girlfriend does have it on her S5, also 5.0 Lollipop. Strange.

Any reason you want it? I found it to be really annoying. I don't need to know that I have headphones plugged in

Well, I got used to it, and I'm kinda OCD person. It bothers me because I know that it used to work, but now don't. Hate those things that don't have solutions (explanations).

I'm a bit like that too, and I thought it was a big improvement
Either way, I don't think they had a reason for it other than it possibly clearing up the status bar.
