as an iPhone switcher, I was unsure if the remote control worked exactly as on iOS. A simply google search told me so
Most music apps will support the feature for controlling your music from the headset.
- Volume Up/Down can be used to turn the volume up and down.
- Press “Select” once to pause or stop music.
- Double-press “Select” to skip forward to the next track.
- Triple-press “Select” to skip backwards to the previous track.
BUT, on mine, every time I triple press the select (or center button) it keeps skipping forward and in fact skips twice and does it always, no matter the music app I try it, DoubleTwist, Pulsar, PiMusic, Spotify, etc.
I would like to know if I have a lemon (phone or headphones), or this might be an S8 glitch or something? anyone else with a similar or same problem?
I had the same concern when I switched to android. Unfortunately on android, the controls for the remote work differently per pair of headphones or earbuds. The only reason that the experience is so smooth and universal on iOS is because the remote controls are determined by Apple's music player, not the remote. On top of that, your music player needs to be compatible with remote interface. I use
BlackPlayer EX ($2.95 USD). There is a free version of BlackPlayer
here with minimal differences.
Poweramp ($3.99 USD) is also compatible, but I like BlackPlayer much more. Unfortunately there aren't really any reviews on the
exact functions of the many available headphones or earbuds with a remote, so your best bet is to try different pairs. It's not the best option, but there aren't many choices into researching this feature. Might I
also suggest experimenting, and trying new button combinations
just to see what happens. For instance: Did you know that long-pressing volume up will fast-forward a track while volume down does the obvious opposite on iOS,
and that you can reset a track to 00:00 with rewind if it's still within the first five seconds? I will provide some personal accounts of my various experiences with these types of headphones.
Apple EarPods ($29.00 USD/Wired).
These earbuds have excellent audio quality, but lack noise-cancellation or a comfortable fit. The remote works quite nicly on android, but
not the same as on iOS. I haven't had a pair for a while, so I don't remember all remote functions, but I know that support play/pause, and track selection.
Monster Beats ($20-30 USD/Wired)
A decent wired option, these buds have very nice native remote support. Functions include play/pause, track selection, volume, and phone call answering. I personally find them to be over-priced, and while they sound nice, they don't tend to last for long though.

Beatsx ($149.95 USD/Wireless)
While still in the cabal of Dre's brand, these are much more affordable than some other of Beats' other products,
with the benefit of a remote. Honestly, these are about the same as their wired Monster Beats alternative.

yurbuds Inspire 400 ($49.99 USD/Wired)
These marvels are some of the best, and underrated earbuds I've ever owned. They have a remote, but it can be a bit award because of it's size and shape. The buds have very nice noise-cancelling interchangeable caps that fit much nicer in the ear as opposed to hard plastic buds. The remote supports play/pause, track selection, fast-forwards/rewind, volume, and phone call answering.

yurbuds Liberty Wireless ($99.99 USD/Wireless)
This is my current pair of earbuds, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Despite being wireless, they have quite a boom. The audio quality and range is superb, and for $100, they're some of the most affordable wireless earbuds. The remote supports the following functions: Pay/pause, track selection, volume, and phone call answering. Their battery live is very good as well, they average about five and-a-half hours total for me a day.

Side-note on wireless/bluetooth audio devices, they
do not support
HiFi or
DAC audio.
