heads up notifications

Is there a way to dismiss the heads up notifications on the One M9 without having to swipe away the notification and getting rid of it from the pull down tray? Its like...i don't want to deal with the notification now, i want to deal with it later after i'm done with whatever it is i am doing. I remember reading somewhere that google made a fix for this. Was this in 5.1?

Go to settings/sound & notifications and near the bottom is the notification settings
