Headset Controls

Hi. I have a Note 3 from Telus, and I'm having an odd problem with the headset Play/Pause control button. When I first start listening to some music or whatever, using any of the player apps I have installed, the button operates fine. After playing for a couple of songs or so pressing the button has no effect and I have to pull out my phone to make a change. After doing so, the button again operates normally for another couple of songs or so. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
