i've never been able to get an accurate result under any conditions. if i take a reading repeatedly, the result varies wildly: 86, 59, 121, ...

is there something wrong with my watch? or is this just what can be expected from optical sensors?

thanks,

Mines horrible as well, half the time it doesnt work at all, very frustrating...

Mine works pretty good, though I have no reference to know how accurate it is. It gives fairly consistent results.

I've got an ugly question for you... are your arms particularly hairy? Or perhaps do you wear the watch very loosly? I prefer mine one notch away from what I would consider 'tight' on my arm. No indentation marks left in my skin, yet tight enough to not flop around as I move my wrist.

Hairy, somewhat
But i hold the watch against my arm when trying to take heart rate... Still barely works

I haven't tested this but I can as I have a HR monitor I use for cycling which is very accurate. I can compare the readings and get back to you all tomorrow evening. The technology used on this watch has to be fairly accurate because FitBit built an entire line of workout related health and fitness (watches) around it.
