I usually hate heavy duty cases, as they tend to be bulky, ugly and mishap the feel of the phone. However, I got a good deal on a Youmaker heavy duty military grade (whatever that means) case on Amazon the other day so I gave it a shot. Needless to say it's very comfortable in hand due to the width of the note 8. It's still bulky but tolerable and it gives me more confidence in drop protection. I really like the new long but thin frame of Samsung's current lineup as it allows options like this where as before cases would make a phone feel to wide.

I've got the Defender case and love it. Sure it's little bulky but it looks good and feels secure

OTTER BOX on my Note 8, on the left. Surprisingly not a bulky feel at all. Very happy with it. UAG case on my Note 5, is a good option as well.

I have the Tough Armor as well for when I want to use a slimmer case, the kickstand is a great feature however the Defender is much more protective, of course it's bulkier as well

Otterbox Defender all the way. I have one on my Note 8 and my S8+ in the picture. Best cases ever. Hardened corners and sides so the phone will be well protected if it falls or gets banged on something. Nice lip on the top and bottom edge to protect the screen. On the Note 8, the screen is just about level with the sides of the case too.

You have so many phones lol, it looks like you also have an otterbox on a gold s7 edge in the left corner!

I have a couple S7 Edge phones. The silver one is from when I broke the display on my preorder S7 Edge so I replaced it with an unlocked S7 Edge. The blue one I bought in March when T-Mobile had the $360 sale because I always wanted a blue one. The blue one is in an Otterbox case and the silver one is in the same case that I had the original S7 Edge in. That case did nothing to protect the phone when the lower left cornet shattered starting with the part this is covered by the lower left lip of the case. You can see where the case is scuffed up on the lip of the case.

When I want to use the S7 Edge, I take the blue one because of the OtterBox case and yes, I do use the blue one quite a bit still.

Nice!

I'm using the Samsung Rugged Case and love it. I've owned a Defender for almost ever phone and would only put it on when I was headed out to do something that warranted a heavy duty case. I'm loving this case though. The kick stand works well too

heavy duty military grade (whatever that means)

It doesn't mean a damn thing. It's a marketing gimmick to make you feel good about your purchase.

"MIL-STD is not a fixed but flexible standard that enables users to tailor test methods to match the application, that's to say, a vendor's claim of being in compliance to MIL-STD-810G can be misleading. Suppliers are able to, or some are, take significant latitude with how to test their products and how to report the test results. When queried whether they take real tests, those commercial vendors just replied that their product is designed in accordance with the military standard, though no testing has actually been done because most of the test methods in MIL-STD-810G bear expensive costs or need special facilities."
