Helium backup on Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

I am trying to use the Helium backup app on a Kindle HDX 8.9. You have to connect to the desktop app to set up backup on the device. Instructions say that the Kindle is in MTP mode and you need to set the device to camera PTP mode. I can't find this setting, is it possible to do on the HDX?

I finally found that you have to put the Kindle in developer mode, then under USB computer connection you can change MTP to PTP. Still haven't gotten Helium to work, though.
