Hello Marquee crew, i'm on the fence

I've been a BB curve user for 3 years (first and only smartphone...so far) and I have been reading all the great advice and wisdom that this website/forum has to offer. I really like the Conquer4G, but not only is there a mere (2) posts for this phone, but the ROOTING community (even outside this forum) have no support for this phone what-so-ever. Even though it is free, not sure i'll enjoy a phone i can't "play" with.

This brings me to the Marquee forum. First let me say I have enjoyed reading your posts and as suggested, a lot of support from the OptimusS community, this phone may be in for plenty of support and love as well.

I have read reviews that comment on the phone's video and also here the browser having "glitches" or stutters. But from my reading here, sounds like it is a software problem that could mean this phone would be rock solid if LG puts out some nice "patches".

From reviews, (chime in please), it looks like this phone has killer signal strength, holding performance. One review even said it was one of the best for signal in the sprint line up. (i'm talking for phone calls, not data). And i'll do more testing in store, but the audio quality has been a mix bag, some say speaker phone kind of soft and ear piece not as loud as they'd like. I'll test these for myself, but any comments would be great.

I know there's a lot to learn going from BB to android and i'm still a bit overwhelmed, but i really like this forum and it's nice to see other's providing advice or suggestions rather than a snooty [use the search feature]. I'm sure i will use it when i really get deep in the trenches.

BTW, when i say "on the fence", i'm trying to justify coming (most likely to the Marquee) if i can convince myself to move on past the new curve 9350. That phone too has mixed review info. Can find all sorts of GSM reviews. And I am on SERO, so getting the Marquee ($40) will be nicer than the Conquer ($50).

thanks for reading. Hope you guys can get a solution to the video driver issue I believe DISHE first brought up and any other issues like power drains and of course will be watching all root/rom update info.:D

The only advantage to the Conquer as far as I can tell is the 4G radio (which you may or may not have access to where you live). Otherwise, the capabilities of the phone seem rather limited compared to other modern smartphones- and on SERO that extra $10 a month for 4G can land you better phones in the same/similar price range these days (isn't the nexus S free on promotion now?).

The Marquee will save you the 4G fee, and offer tons more capability (HD video, higher def display, etc). But yes, it has some driver bugs that I'm hoping we can work out soon. Also worth considering is the Transform Ultra- its lower end, more on the level of the Conquer, but sports super fast performance and response times, as well as a qwerty slide out KB if that's your thing. And being 3G you still save money.

I have a feeling the custom rom community will offer more for the Marquee than those other two, however. I know there are folks working on getting custom recoveries working here, but haven't heard anything about the community on those samsungs. Out of the box the Marquee needs more tweaking, but if you are patient and willing to get your hands dirty, I think it has more potential.

I haven't seen any activity on the Marquee. Is there work being done? If so I'd love to contribute.

FYI - SERO user here that went with the Marquee to avoid the 4G tax.

Tcaudill01 has been collecting data and trying to get the Optimus Black CWM running, but is having some trouble getting everything to line up. He shared the files and data he has so far with me, but neither of us has enough experience with custom recoveries to know what to try next.

Its a matter of time, though. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in and help.
