Hi, I'm Becky and I am a new Android user. I was previously a blackberry user and I loved it in the beginning until it started having major issues and I got a new one only to find it started having some of the same issues. Both phones I had less than 2 years. My husband and I both got the HTC EVO shift and so far I am loving it, now that I've figured our many of the basics so I can use it and feel like I know what I'm doing. I've found a few things I dislike greatly with this phone is #1 where the volume keys are for the ringer and #2 that the ringer is all or nothing. With my blackberry I could turn off all notifications EXCEPT the phone ringer at night. I don't like to be awakened in the middle of the night by an email or a text but being we do not have a land line I would like my phone to ring in the night if an emergency would occur and someone was trying to reach me. Anyone know of anything out there? There has to be an app but I haven't stumbled upon it yet. I've only had the phone 2 weeks so maybe it's something I can do with the phone itself but I've been unable to figure it out.

Thanks and I look forward to using this forum to learn more!

Welcome to the world of Android. I had the same problem as you with my BB Bold 9650 (I went through 3 of them), which was just one of the reasons I switched to Android (EVO Shift also). You'll get used to the location of the volume keys, although I occasionally hit one by accident. Holding the phone close to the corners in viewing landscape is the key. You can adjust your incoming call and notification sounds or even shut them off. (Menu>Settings>Sound) No app needed. I suggest you and hubby get a 16 gig (at least) SD card, so you can store photos, apps, etc., so you don't run out of phone memory. I recommend the App 2 SD. It will notify you which apps can be stored on your SD card. MyBackup Pro is a great app, also.

Hope this is helpful.

Question with regard to the SD card. I had done a little searching as I wanted to get bigger SD cards for both of our phones and I read somewhere that it must be a class 6 microsd card. Being I have no idea what class 6 means do you know if this is true and is this a standard format/type?
Thanks!
