Guys I can't seem to remove the alarm clock icon at the top of my screen. There are no future alarms set and I have no idea how it got there. Not sure if it's a Google now alarm or what?

Any ideas? (screenshot attached)

Go into clock from your app drawer, you will see the highlighted symbol, press it and job done.

To further customize this.. If you use alarms and would still like to hide the alarm icon on the status bar, you can get rid of it using G3TweaksBox (if you are rooted, and you probably should be).

Stupid question but what are the additional benefits of rooting?

You can use root-only applications (see Titanium backup) and customize a lot further than what you can without rooting (see G3TweaksBox).

Modify the camera settings for improved bitrates.

Enhance sound volume with both headphones and speaker.

Enable read/write access to the External SD card.

Enable all applications to be used with split screen.

There are more...

Any improvements in battery life?

Also any url which helps to walk through the process of rooting please?
