Deciding On A Watch

Hi All!

I just got a Pixel XL 2 as a replacement for the original Pixek XL (yay VZW). I am looking to get a WearOS watch to go with the Pixel.

I am looking for something that I can wear everyday to work and it does not have to be a classy watch. I don't need NFC, I like GPS and something that is not laggy or slow. I would like something that is going to be upgraded to WearOS and Android Oreo. I would also like something that is readily available and easy to purchase. I will track down and order watch if I have to but would prefer not to.

Right now I seem to be really torn between the Tic Watch E and the Misfit Vapor.

Any suggestions it comments are greatly appreciated.

Tic watch is the safest bet right now. Its relatively new so Google theoretically shouldn't drop its support. Its also one of the less $$$ choices, so when Google does discontinue support or releases buggy software updats you won't be out too much $$.

WearOS is still too new and if history repeats itself it will release with bugs and various unexpected incompatibilities. If you can wait, thats your best option. Although with a Google phone, you should be relatively safe.

Ticwatch E is what I have purchased to go with my XL2 and it should arrive tomorrow from Amazon so I will be able to give better impressions of it after a few days hopefully.

Let us know what you think of it... I'm still rocking a pebble... But suspect I'm going to need something newer sooner or later.

I'm ready to replace my ageing Asus ZenWatch 2 and I'm keen in the Huawei Watch 2 especially with it's low price on Amazon. I might hang off a little longer and see if Google release a Pixel watch this year as rumoured

I can say so far since getting it this afternoon for the price it's a very good watch. I was worried about the MediaTek processor being slow but so far everything has been snappy. It's not an aluminum body device but for the price I'm very happy with it. The one thing that stands out to me is the screen! It's probably the best looking screen I've seen on a watch and especially at this price point. After a few days I'll come back and update with battery life and other thoughts but so far color me impressed!

Tic watch is good for the price. However isn't not necessarily the safest bet as they have been slow to release the Oreo update. They just announced today a delay due to bugs which tells me they we're not working on it until recently.
As for wear os it is currently just aname change until Android 0 comes out it is just a rebranding.

I have both Tic E and HW2 Classic. Price wise, the Tic is much better obviously.

The problem with the HW2 Classic is Huawei themselves and their abysmally bad watch updates. Previous update dropped support for Band. Which didn't bother me so much. Latest update dropped HW2. Genius. Doesn't stop the watch from working, but degrades it's availability in certain app syncs.

I have the Huawei Watch 2 classic, the Fossil Q Explorist 3, and the LG Watch Sport. All are on Wear OS latest and Oreo 8.0. All work well, but I like the HW2 all off. But if you like larger screen size, then the Fossil Q or LG Watch Sport are larger. The HW2 seems to have the best battery life.
