Help Me Convince My Mother to Get a Nexus 10 Instead of an Ipad

My mom is older (75) and uses an iPhone and she wants a tablet now so she wants an iPad because she already knows how to use an iPhone (kinda). I want her to try android because I don't want to have to always be learning every iOS update to help her with her Apple products. If she gets an iPad that will be another Apple product I have to learn about and I don't want to have to help her do that even if she did give me life and pay for my college education (*selfish*).

So what can I say to convince her she needs the Nexus 10, not an iPad?

Take her in to play on one. Only thing you can do.

Personally, no offense, but suck it up and let her have an iPad.... she's your mom and she's 75....
Plus it runs almost the exact same ios as the phone does....
I love Android, but both my little kids use ios for now cause its just easier for the most part...
IMHO its easy to mess up an android device... much harder to mess up an ios since its locked down so much...

sent from a Nexus, nothing less will do...

Honestly, if she already has an iPhone, the iPad is probably her best option. It's all about the ecosystems now, and it's probably not worth it to her to make the move over to Android.

I hear ya, but I want to play with the Nexus 10, lol!

I'd probably bite the bullet and let her get the iPad too. iOS is more basic so it's easier for less tech-savvy people to learn and they can use it right out of the box.

But if she learns new things and keeps challenging her mind that will help prevent dementia (this is one argument I have come up with :)).

Let her try the nexus 7 at sam's club or Walmart. A few other places too.
My Walmart doesn't have them for some reason. I checked online, too. There may be some in a nearby city. I guess I will have to travel.

I saw that some Staples have them in-stock, too but not any nearby me. Any other retail options?

Save your pennies and get one. Or if the iPad doesn't work out, sell it and get a Nexus 10.
I got lots of pennies but we have 2 laptops, an ultrabook and 2 smartphones between the 2 of us. I could get both the iPad and the Nexus 10 but I don't know how much I would use a tablet. I just want one. I really only want one for when I am out of the house because I want a bigger screen than my GNex. I will probably get the GN3 when it comes out.

My mom would really like a tablet to play games on in the house. She can play games on her computer but it isn't a touchscreen and she wants a touchscreen.

If the only reason you are refusing your mother an iPad which is so easy to use, is because you want to try the N10, I don't know what to say to you.

For gods sake its her tablet not yours, let her stay in her comfort zone.

And besides it would go so well with her iPhone and games look "better" the UI of iOS is more polished on the tablet it's an opinion I know but an opinion many people agree with.

Tell her what I tell my family- I don't "do" Apple or MS-Windows. If they want my help, they will use Linux and Android. Otherwise they will need to seek out someone else or pay for support. Guess what my Mom chose to use? (Yep, Linux desktop and Android phone and tablet). Sometimes your support network is far more important than other factors.
