Help me G3 vs Z3V

I own a Verizon LG G3. I really like this phone. There are some great exclusive features. I like that I can customize my launch bar on the bottom. I like the q slide. I like the drop-down notification bar with the quick settings right there for you. Turning on wifi or going into airplane mode is a snap. Adjusting the screen brightness is fast and i like having so much screen real estate.

But I must say the battery life is really disappointing. I'm a heavy user and id like my phone to have some stamina.

Thats why I'm considering a switch to.the new Sony Z3V. Since it has the lower resolution screen (still though 1080p should be sufficient) the actual usage time is supposed to be much longer. Additionally it's waterproof and I think listening to my tune in radio in the shower or watching a movie while relaxing in the tub sounds like a good feature. But the lack of accessory support for a carrier exclusive phone scares me plus the screen is a bit smaller. And although the specs dont reflect it it seems a little easier to hold as well.

My first priority for a phone is the screen, the screen is the conduit to enjoying your phone. But battery life is right up there as welll since what good is a great screen if you're tethered to the wall?

I can only comment on the Z2 but imagine it will be the same conclusion as almost identical.

So the screen is great and I can't find many faults and viewing angles are also no bad if you tend to operate on the desk or what have you.

Battery life is fantastic and will get you through a heavy days use without worry of searching for your charger.

Should you buy? well that my friend is your call but you would not be disappointed.

There is a big difference in feel between the G3 and Z3v, the G3 does not feel like a 5.5" display phone, at all, and it conforms to the hand nicely. Whereas the Z3v feels like a heavy brick, is a lot thicker than the images of it would have you believe, and is quite square. Honestly, I was disappointed in the in-hand feel of the Z3v.

Try getting another battery. That will give you more screen on time than any flagship out there.

You can say that for any device with replaceable battery ;). That said, the G3 does not have very good screen on time, so a spare battery would be a good practice if away from a charger for too long.

What is considered very good screen on time?

I love my G3, but do pine for killer battery life. Having said that, my 14-16hrs average isn't at all bad IMHO.

Having said that, it is nice to unplug in the morning (5.30am in my case), and badger through the day with little or no worry about whether you're gonna get to 10 or 11pm with any juice left. Without a doubt, Sony seemed to have nailed this, and, it seems, not just because of the 1080p screen - The Z2/3 seems to out-strip plenty of other phones that don't have the Quad screen.

Buuuuut... If I did have the Sony, and had a day where I absolutely hammered my phone, with GPS, games, surfing etc. etc., I'd still be uncomfortable with a stuck-in battery.... I still like the security of knowing I have another 100% sitting in my pocket, ready. I often can't afford for my phone to die, particularly in the evening, so the option to pop another battery in is still a big plus point for me.
