Help: Missing lock instantly with power key

I just got a new GS3 today- cracked my old one- and am having an issue- it automatically locks whenever i press the power key- never happened with my old phone- and in the lock screen options- there is no option for "lock instantly with power key" where there should be.... what can i do?!?!?
