Help! New LG Ally, short standby life

I got the LG Ally for my wife about two weeks ago and she's started having problems with battery life. Today it died after being unplugged about 8 hrs with no call time. On the battery breakdown screen I'm seeing "Cell standby" account for over 60% of the battery usage. Is this normal for the Ally? Thanks in advance.

Looks like I'm late to the party on this one. Must be this well-known bug (FWIW: New LG Ally has 50% Time Without Signal Bug - Android Forums) rearing its ugly head.
