Hi guys,

I'm reaching to Android community to help me regarding notifications.
Basically, I just moved from Apple to Huawei, great phone I really like it honestly.
BUT, notifications management on Huawei is very disappointing and so far away from IOS... I'm sure other people had same disappointment when they changed and that's why I'm reaching to you, to know how you solved that issue!

2 issues:

Badges icons

I appreciate that at least some apps have badge icons with unread messages count like insta, Facebook. But I'm astonished by the minimal number of apps with such options! Like what about tinder? or snapchat? Also, gmail has this option but badge icons does not work and this is troublesome for professional reasons!!
Regarding that issue, most people suggest using Nova launcher but is there an app/widget or solution other than using launcher to have badge icons for ALL apps??

Minimal content of notifications and inability to play and interact with it

Receiving notifications are great but becomes useless if you can't see the whole content of it. You received BBC news notification saying 'Trump visiting the UK and suggesting'... Well, suggesting what? Give me the full content and whole sentence lol! Same for whatssapp or instagram (Hey mate, how are you? Let's.... Well let's what? have a drink? Go to cinema? Get wasted? )
Is there a great app providing full content notification on both lock screen and home screen??

I dowloaded material notification shade (MNS) for home screen. Quite good with full expanded notification but several issues remain. Mainly brightness, like you adjust brightness on your home screen (let's say to maximum) through this app notification center, great, but when you go to lock screen, brightness is not at same level (let's say to minimum level). Why? Because Huawei default notification center is controlling brightness.
Is there a way to avoid default notification center controlling brightness and instead MNS controlling it on both home screen and lock screen? Or any other apps like MNS but without such issue?

For lock screen, I dowloaded Ava Lock screen. Quite good as well with full expanded notifications but also some issues like fingerprint working 50% of time, notification limited to 6, inability to view any control center (whether MNS or Huawei default one), when screen is full of notification you can't really enter phone..

Anyway, these are annoying issues all related to fact that Huawei notification system and management is quite weak for a previous iPhone users. So, if any previous iPhone users now on Android or anyone with same issues could help me, would be great. Many thanks for your help guys !!

Welcome to Android Central, and welcome to Android in general!:)

Unread count badges are entirely up to how the launcher is designed. Most stock launchers only support badges for certain apps, not all, which is part of the reason why Nova (and others like it) are so popular -- 3rd party launchers give you a lot more flexibility with how your homescreen looks and behaves. There used to be an app on the Play Store called Notifyer that could give you unread count badges on most if not all apps, but I think it worked by creating a widget to replace the app shortcut icon. It's no longer available (not sure why), and I'm not aware of a similar app.

On most Android phones, if you swipe down your notification panel, and then swipe down a little bit on a notification like that, it'll expand the notification so that you can read more. (Huawei always wants to be different, so it might not work like that on your phone.)

That's not the app, it's the way Huawei set the phone up. Look in Settings > Display to see if there's a way to disable auto brightness. If there is, disable it and install Velis Auto Brightness. I've used it for years.
