I installed the OTA update for gingerbread on my rooted LG Optimus S i forgot to unroot is there anything i can do to help me its stuck at LG screen please i dont have money to replace a phone. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please let me know if i Perma-bricked my phone

search for the emergency restore, there's a link inside the unbrick sticky I believe.

The unbrick methods dont work for me any other suggestions or should i just take my phone to sprint and try to lie my way out of paying for a new phone

Don't rush into anything. There are very knowledgeable people here, but it is still early. Give it a few hours for them to see this and respond

Can you boot into recovery?

Removed USB cable (if any), remove cover, pull battery, replace battery/cover, simultaneously press and *hold* [Power] [Vol Dwn] [Home] until Recovery comes up, then release those buttons.

If anyone could help me solve my problem today please give any advice ill try it i cant lose my phone

yes i can boot into recvery but i hit reboot and it just sits at lg screen

That's a good sign. I think the next question is which recovery comes up (stock, or custom like xionia)? In your initial post you said you were rooted, but you didn't mention whether a custom recovery had been installed (or at least I didn't see it).

No i didnt have a custom recovery I have stock i just wanted root so i could get rid of annoying boot music can you help me?

Okay, if you are sure there is no custom recovery, then the OTA update should not have hurt you. You should be able to perform a "factory reset/ wipe data" and "wipe cache" from the recovery menu, and your phone should then boot. OTA really only causes brick with a custom recovery. I don't think your phone is bricked at all.

You're 100% sure it's stock recovery, right?

You only have 4 menu options in your recovery, right? the third and forth options are the ones to wipe data and wipe cache. use the volume buttons to move down, and select each of them with the menu key.

Strange. I have stock recovery and stock ROM and had rooted my phone with gingerbreak and I was able to update it smoothly. Of course my phoine is no longer rooted but I have 2.3.
Now I am waiting for gingerbreak to root my phone again. :D
