Help Please!! I'm such a noob!

Well, I had an unofficial JB ROM on my GNex, and when the update came out I thought I'd just go with that instead. So I made a backup of my JB just in case, and then deleted user data and restored my old ICS backup. I guess I had to have dev options off in settings, from what I read, becuase CWM gave me an error that it couldn't restore /data. So I tried to go back to JB and thought I'd just have to download the ICS image straight from Google. I got the same error! So after numerous attempts to get anything going, and all kinds of fiddling until well after 3 AM, CWM can't mount /sdcard, the bootloader has the fastboot status as FAILInvalid Command when I plug my phone into the computer, and I have no ICS or JB. I don't know what to do, because I tried searching the mounting issue and the fastboot issue, but it seems that no one has had both of these problems at the same time before. Lucky me. Please, any help would be hugely appreciated at this point! I think it's safe to say that if I get this sorted out, I'm going to stay well away from rooting and flashing ROMs.

You should just do a simple factory image restore. There's a sticky in the rooting section with instructions.. you will need fastboot to work, I am going to guess that the invalid command error you received just means you weren't trying to use fastboot from within the correct directory, i.e. the one your fastboot file is located in. Also try using Wug's toolkit, as it may be easier for you and accomplish the restore as well.

Thanks, I actually got the invalid command error to go away and tried to do an image restore, but it gives me an error saying it wont load anything. I'll try the toolkit though, never heard of it before.

Which step?

When I have a command window open and type "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-toro-primela03.img"

Did you follow the guide? Sounds like you either (1) don't have the drivers installed, (2) don't have a fastboot executable, (3) didn't cd/change directory to the proper location.

The problem is I'm doing all 3 of those (sorry I forgot to include the directory command in my last reply.) I reinstalled the drivers and I have wug's toolkit downloading the image files right now. I did follow the guide, though.

Update: I got past that error, I just deleted and reinstalled fastboot.exe, but now when I try the command prompt, it gets stuck at <waiting for device>. I just want to see if I can fix it before the image files get done downloading in the toolkit

I can tell you fastboot and adb cannot interact with files unless they are in the directory in which you enter the commands...that's why it's a good idea to add the path(s) to adb and fast boot to the %PATH environment variable... that way you can run fastboot and adb while you are in any directory instead of having to move all your files into their directories

You're going to need that ;)

You can always cd...

Thank you all I finally sorted it out! Wug's toolkit worked, so now all I have to do is wait for Jelly Bean to show up under the system updates!
