Help please...Messenger Icon is gone

Hello all. I loaded an update last night for my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 and my messenger icon is gone. I had it on my home screen and i can see it when i search my apps, but it shows that it's been cached. I can still message from my contact list using that app and I can access it through the icon that's still on my lock screen. I got a notice that there was an update for the phone and when it was complete, the icon was gone.

JB 4.1.2. This was the stock messenger app that came with the phone.

Is there a way to get it back? Or is there a replacement messenger app that you would suggest?

If it appears in your app drawer, just tap and hold to drag it back out there.
