Hello all! I've been an iPhone user for the last year and a half, but am ready to take the Android plunge. Out of the phones I've seen out now, I think I'd go with the Thunderbolt. My iPhone is in pretty rough shape, so it would be hard to hold out for more than another 2-3 weeks.

I know there's always SOMETHING new coming out, but is there something MUCH better just around the corner that's worth waiting for? From what I've read it seems the Samsung Galaxy S 2 would be the one. Are any of these perhaps better choices: Nexus S 4G, Bionic, Samsung Charge, Incredible 2, LG Revolution. Sorry if these are stupid/obvious questions, but after several hours of reading up on Android it's hard to keep it all straight! Any help is much appreciated.

Here are my big concerns with the Thunderbolt. Any comments on how significant these are vs. the other options:
1) non Super AMOLED Plus screen
2) no Gorilla Glass
3) Android 2.2 instead of 2.3
4) Single core processor
5) Size: Samsund Galaxy S smaller and sleeker?
6) No HDMI output: How else can I display onto a larger screen?
7) Battery

I'll use the phone primarily for business and entertainment (but no gaming).

Thanks a bunch!

I would personally go for the new HTC Pyramid/Sensation.
1. Screens are screens when it concerns phones with a large display.AMOLED, AMOLED Plus, AMOLED Extra, AMOLED Super, unless you have calibrated eyes..... A high end Android ph will have a nice display
2. Gorilla Glass...... Remember Nokia Sapphire glass on the 8800? Guarenteed not to scratch or crack? Need I say more.,......
3. 2.2 or 2.3, you're at the mercy of the manufacturers here. Oh, I'll run Win95 these days... Go for the newest OS, if ya don't like it, go custom
4. Pyramid/sensation has dual processor. Of course my Desire overclocked, performs on par with them. But hey, go dual
5. Small and slim???? They're all slimmer than the iPhone, and you won't need modified pants pockets :)
6. HDMI? Pyramid/Sensation has it. Although, I just can't seem to understand, why somebody would want to watch their recordings of some embarrassing situations on an 82 inch LED big screen.
7. finally, battery life. This is like beating a dead horse to no end. Everybody who buys a newer version Andoid screams, hollers, and begs for help about the battery life, within hours of buying it. You would think it is their first smartphone! The battery will settle down after a few recharges. They learn to turn off all the "bloatware" that was pre-installed. They will also learn, you don't need Wifi, bluetooth, and GPS running 24-7. And if you watch films all day... well. Personally, I changed the stock ROM on my desire, to a modified one. My normal business usage, is now over 48 hrs. God loves an open source OS.

Go for the Pyramid/Sensation

@Moscow Desire
I am wondering what your opinion is if it needs to be a VZW device?
I am in a similar dilemma to the OP in that I am trying to decide between the TB or waiting for more LTE options to come out. The device needs to be available on VZW for me.
Thanks.

Ok, listen up people.

phones sold in the US, yeah, they're locked to the provider. True, you can "jailbreak" them. especially if they are GSM phones (sim card).

The question is, why don't you get them from Europe, from a good distributer? Stock issue phones from the manufacturer. Then, you cn get a pre-paid sim card from Att, probably Verizon, t-mobile.

If you get a phone at a discount from ie; At&T, you will probably pay at least twice the cost of the phone, at the end of your contract.

And you get all the BS "bloatware" in addition.

And everybody knows, if you wish to download big file, get a WiFi connection, or USB connection, regardless of this bastardized "LTE".

Thanks for the advice Moscow Desire! The Sensation looks great, but I see it's going to be a T-mobile phone here in the US, and T-mo is awful where I'm at.

I was hoping to use Verizon's network (no SIM card), but could be persuaded to Sprint or ATT for the right phone. ATT was horrible with my iPhone, but if I get a 4G ATT phone as I understand the network is much less loaded..?

What is Sapphire Glass? Never heard of it before. Is it common on today's phones? Also, if you do get an unlocked phone, how much is it for an "everything" plan (voice, text, data)?
