Help! Tried to sideload 5.1 and stuck on Google lock screen

So i flashed the stock image and sideloaded 5.1 via WugFresh. Everything went fine and the phone told me i had to reboot it. I did and it sat on the google lock screen for way too long. I am able to hold down power button and volume and get back into recovery mode but the same thing keeps happening: stuck on the lockscreen. Where did i go wrong and what can i do?

You sideloaded 5.1 for the Nexus 6? Or for another phone?

(Why did you flash one ROM's image if you were just going to overwrite it with another ROM?)

so i originally was trying to just sideload the ota but i go this message: " After it said "Verifying Current System" on my phone it said: "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system has been remounted R/W; reflash device to reenable OTA updates. E:Error in /sideload/package.zip (Status 7)
I asked someone and they said to flash 5.1 stock image which i did and then proceeded to sideload ota only to get stuck after it succesfully installed and then told me to reboot. now stuck on google lock screen

I am going to post this in all four and end it here because i believe i fixed the problem.
Originally i was led to believe that I needed to flash the image in order to sideload the ota. i did not know that they were one and the same. Because of that, i am assuming that i loaded an update ontop up an update (yep lol i am a dumbass for that). When everyone here told me that they were the same thing, i simply went back into WugFresh and reflashed the 5.1 image. My phone is now up and running with the "About Phone" saying "Android 5.1".
I want to seriously thank everyone here for helping me out with this problem. I really could not have done it without you guys and it makes me proud to be a part of this great community!
