I took my Nook out of the box and rooted with no problems. Proceeded to install Nookie Froyo to SD card, and then installed the Google applications. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the performance. Even with what is supposed to be a class 10 sd card, it was sluggish.

I removed the SD card, taking it back to rooted stock and installed Froyo to internal memory following the guide stickied above. Success! And the performance was much better. But then something went wrong trying to install google apps and the overclocked kernel.

My Nook no longer boots. I attempted to boot with the froyo SD image and install clockwork recovery, but it will not boot into recovery mode once clockwork is flashed.

After scouring xda I eventually came across a clockworkmod boot image which I added to a spare sd card. I booted up, and followed the directions for restoring to rooted stock (also sticked above). It still won't boot once I remove the sd card. They only thing I can do is boot froyo from my other sd card. My goal is to wipe to rooted stock and then reinstall to internal memory correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a huge headache!

Unfortunately in my infinate blondeness I can't remember the link, but Will (I think, since he seems to have all the Nook write ups) has a great description how to install the factory boot/recovery image, so that you can do the 8x interruption method of restore.

OP - check out the stickied restore nook to stock thread. Ignore the part with clockwork, as it doesn't play well with nookie yet. Follow the adb directions and you'll be back to stock.

And now we have another issue. I installed to internal memory and loaded Google apps- used the nook for a full day and all was well. Then I popped in my blank SD disk for storage. I tried to format using the menu option but it didn't work, so I powered down and used my phone to format the SD card. Now the nook wont boot with or without the SD.

Does using the format SD setting Bork the boot process for some reason?

I'm wondering if maybe you accidentally hit format boot or system or something? I haven't heard of formatting an SD doing that, but who knows? Maybe start over, and this time, format your SD in your computer to be safe.

I have a similar issue.. except I can't even boot to froyo on SD.. my nook was working fine. I set it down for a second went back to it, black screen didn't think anything of it so I hit power button to unlock the screen and nothing.. tried to reboot. still nothing.. :( Could my SD card not be fast enough to do a froyo boot?

Are you holding power down for 10-15 seconds then holding it down again with nookie in? It could technically still be on and need to be powered down first.

...and I'm assuming your battery wasn't low, was it?

I did not format the boot to my knowledge. I should have indicated that during the full day of using the nook booting from internal memory, I rebooted the nook atleast 3 times and everything i went fine.

The problem began when I installed a formatted sd card (formatted on my galaxy s fascinate). When it did not boot, I uninstalled the sd card, and tried to boot without it (as i had been doing all day). Nothing.

Mine did the exact same thing after putting in a formatted SD card after a while of usage and then sitting it down when I tried to bring the screen to life there was nothing.. The first time this happened I restored it and just thought maybe I did something? then it happened again saturday and this time I realized it was the SD I put in.. so after rooting and installing nookie froyo for a 3rd time internally I won't be putting the SD in for a while.. I'd like to know what I can do to remedy this situation though...

There have been several occasions where my nook will only respond with a blank screen when asked to wake up. You can tell the screen is trying to come on, it is simply not displaying anything. I have noticed that everything is fine besides the fact that the screen is blank.

As it is somewhat tedious to try to remember where exactly the unlock slider is on a black screen, and then where android places the power off button, and then the confirmation button, I usually just hold down power for about five or six seconds, as this still powers the device off. Then wait a few and press for another second or so, and I see the nook come to life.

Yeah i thought it might still be running but just a blank display but i couldnt get it to ever boot. So i had to boot with nookie froyo sd and restore this way.. its working well now, just no sd so it limits my usage..
