Help understanding ROMs

Hi I'm new to the Android platform but I have rooted my phone. However, I'm trying to figure out this custom ROM thing. Why can't not put any custom ROMs on my G Pro? It's rooted! Doesn't that mean I have complete access now? I'm confused. Jailbreaking was so much easier. Please help.

It good that you made the switch to Android. Was there anything in particular you were hoping to gain through root?

I'm not quite sure because I don't quite know if what they are. I have heard that you can overclock or under clock the OS. You can get android 4.3 even if it's not available to LG users. That sort of thing. Being able to fully customize the phone which I thought I was going to be able to do once I rooted. Cynagenmod doesn't even have the LG on there list. Not the att one anyway. I'm just confused.
