help with alternative password for galaxy s5

So i got locked out of my s5 and did the whole android device manager and was able to get past the lock screen. The problem is that whenever the screen times out and locks the phone again, it goes back to the alternative password screen and when i put my alternative password it doesn't recognize it and have to re do the process through android device manager. Is there anything i am doing wrong or is it just the device that's faulty. The night prior to this happening i actually went swimming in the SF bay not on purpose. I know the s5 is water resistant to a certain point but idk. Any info would be great.

You are going to have to reset all of the passwords once you get the phone unlocked.

You can delete all of the certificates, that will throw out the passwords in one fell swoop.
