Help with Charger

What is the out put for the charger? I lost mine. Can i use anything else safely?
You can use virtually any micro USB charger that isn't broken. They are basically universal for compatability. Once in a great while you'll find a bad charger or bad cable.

Wall chargers often charge faster 'cuz they often put out 1 amp. That's the max. Most USB chargers you plug into a PC put out .5 amps. Both work.

I'm using my old blackberry charger cause the cord is longer...works fine..

Any microusb charger will work but some better than others. The stock TB charger puts out 1000ma.

The issue is that the usb spec states 500ma, so a lot of chargers only put out 500ma to maintain spec compatibility. The 500ma chargers will work, but will take longer to charge your phone...a lot longer if you leave your phone on while charging.

Very true. But in fairness, it should be noted that the slower you charge a battery the longer its useful life, over time. Always a balancing act.

The output is 5 volts. As all USB chargers should be.

But.....

Is a slow charge OK, or do you need a fast charge? As mentioned, a fast charge is a little harder on the battery.

You can't tell them apart. And just because a charger is labeled as 1 or more amps, doesn't mean it will fast charge. It requires special wiring to fast charge. (D- and D+ shorted) The stock HTC adapter that comes with the phone is a fast charger (just over 2 hours from 0 to 100%).
You can pick up any old charger and get a slow charge. Great for overnight. About 5 to 6 hours for a full charge from totally empty.
I only use a high rate charger on the motorcycle to keep up with the bright display when used as a GPS. At home I use a cheap generic slow charger, and only use the stock HTC fast charger when I need a quick charge.
