Help with New ROM.

theKraven has built the jbc ROM (based on android 4.2.2) and the PAC ROM (with all the best cm10.1 features along with paranoid android and aokp ). They are over in the optimus s forums. They are well worth a look.

I've been on the PAC ROM for a few says, and I'm blown away.

Did you partition your SD card? What SD ext format works best with those ROMs mentioned?

I have a 2 GB ext4 partition, and I'm using the fixed int2ext+ that theKraven mentioned in the jbc/PAC thread. I think ext3 would work as well, but I haven't tried it.

Actually I asked because I tried the Paranoid Android with an ext.3 format and no app movement worked except with App2SD and Link2SD gave me a "could not create mount script".
I guess I'll have to reformat the partition which will mess up restoring my backups, unless I do a lot of re-formatting.
I could re-format, backup this ROM. Then reformat back to ext.3, restore another backup. Re-format to ext.4 and backup that ROM, etc., etc.

That's all kind off hard on the SD card. Oh well......got to do it. Easier than re-flashing, re-theming and setting up each backup just how I want them.

I'm not sure if link2sd will work on these ROMs, regardless of the ext format. I know the regular cronmod scripts don't quite work, and he had to make special scripts for 4.2.x. The fixed int2ext + works well, though. My apps all open quickly, and i have a good amount of them.

He apparently didn't get the script fixed in the Paranoid Android ROM so I tried Link2SD and APP2SD. I couldn't even find any app movement options in the settings at all.
Maybe I'm getting blind in this good eye, can't see out the other (joke).

The int2ext script may not be for the control freaks out there. All of your apps get moved to the ext partition automatically, so there's no settings to tweak. If you have something you absolutely want to be on the internal, you could copy it to system/app, provided the rom is not too big to flash at that point. I always delete apollo, and maybe there's another app or two you could get rid of.

Ah! Ok. I guess it doesn't get along with ext.3 then as no apps where moved to the partition with the built in SD ext script. I guess I'm really going to have to reformat partition. Good thing I got the Linux side of my machine up and running (Windows partitions boot sector is totally borked). Gparted here I come. Steady boy, eeasy now.

It is the PAC ROM. I have so much room because i put cronmod's int2sd+ script in the ROM"s init.d folder before i flashed it. Works fine on zv5. I haven't tried on zv4 or 9. They are different basebands, firmware that controls the phone's radio to make calls and access mobile data.

Before you flash ROMs like this, I'd recommend reading up on modding. Start with Leslie Ann's guide in the stickies.

There is a tab at the top of the forum that says stickies, or if you're on a PC, the first couple posts will have pins in them. They are all useful posts that answer almost all of the questions you will have. Definitely read Leslie Ann's guide first, and then the simplified foot recovery and ROM thread. The ROMs and recoveries they recommend will probably out of date, but the procedures will be similar, and more importantly you will learn the jargon, and safe practices that will keep you from bricking your phone. Read thru those two stickies, and I will give you some links to recoveries and ROMs to try.

Did you read the posts by the Dev? It explains that you have to put the backups from the clockworkmod folder into the cot folder on the SD card.

i did move them but it says they're not found.

Must have did something wrong. Go back and read the Dev's thread again.
I did it no problem a while back, then switched to the ZenGarden because I can use it to get QtADB to work properly. Couldn't with COT.
