So I'm getting (almost!) daily notifications from apps (like Zedge. Flipboard, HD wallpaper, etc...) that I've never received before from my previous devices. Is this a Nougat thing that I wasn't aware of and if so, can I disable it through Android settings or do I have to disable the permission from each app?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure anything changed in Nougat unless each app updated themselves to having notifications on by default (yes, I'm looking at you, Android Central app...). You should be able to turn those notifications off from each app. I have Flipboard and Zedge on mine and have no issues on an Nougat-updated S7 Edge.

Are these notifications from the apps or from another source, like an app manager or battery saver?

When I set up my V20 last week and started installing all my regular apps, I noticed every time I opened an app for the first time getting pop ups for authenticating permissions for said app. I ok'ed everything of course, lol. Did this happen to you on your S7 with nougat or not?

Yeah but that was there since Marshmallow. When I updated, opening an app that was already authorized didn't ask for any permissions again.

Well I never made it too MM with my Asus Z2. I guess I'll have to revisit each apps permissions. Thanks for your help!

No problem! Yeah, if you skipped MM then that's why you weren't familiar with these. It's a more granular control of what each app has access to (and what you can grant or deny), but it's also a PITA the first time you set it up. Security trumps easy setup.
