Help with saving my cell phone images to my laptop?

I recently damaged my HTC Amaze 4G cell phone and now the screen doesn't work, it just stays black. It still turns on and I it rings when people call or when I get messages but I can't answer them. Anyway, I am trying to save all of the photos I took on it to my laptop through the usb cable. Usually when I plug the cell into the computer through the usb I have to select "use as usb" or "charge only" on my cell phone, but since I cannot use the cell phone's screen at all I cannot choose either option and my cell phone is not showing up on my laptop. How can I save my pictures to my laptop without using the cell screen?
