Help with Thrill contacts?

I am having one heck of a time trying to link facebook contacts to address book contacts. I dont want my whole facebook list in my address book, I just want to link those that already are there. I was told to edit contact, hit menu, then join, and choose the profile to join together, but every single one I get the message "this selection cannot be joined". Do you have any ideas on this, or what settings I may need my contacts to be on? Thank you so much for any help!
