Just give it some time and hopefully Google will resolve the issue. Also make sure your internet connection is working.

Never seen this before...

Have had this happen twice with no message as yours did. Just the generic template as if it was about to load and fill in. Definitely a Google issue. It had none of my accounts listed in the hamburger menu. After several minutes it is resolved when opening the app again. Frustrating nonetheless...
