im interested in a hero because i like the design and feel of the phone im new to android and going to be coming off of a pre on sprint i know it wont be officially getting 2.2 but that there are roms coming out i dont feel like i can justify the huge price and monthly price of an evo but i have been wanting android since it first came out. the hero is like stupid cheap at walmart its like 50 bucks no rebates and to me that sounds good but i need some help. so hero owners is it worth it to still get this phone as my upgrage

I cant justify going to the Evo because of that really bad battery life. Hero is just fine other than a little laggy, but I am working on Rooting it to fix that issue. its an awsome phone else wise.

I've had the Hero about a month,it's a good choice for the money. It took some getting used to and seemed unstable at first but it's good now.Coming from a qwerty key ph.the on screen keyboard is difficult for me to get used to.
My reasons for choosing the Hero:Price, size, android os,familiarity(my son's had it since it came out).I had planned to get the EVO but when Sprint announced the $10 mo.fee and the fact it's just too large for my taste in a ph. the Hero was a logical alternative and I don't regret it.I bought a Bodyglove case $17.29 from ebay which looks & works great with it.

I've been on a Hero since launch and actually just bought my wife one yesterday. Although my Hero acts a little "odd" at times with sluggishness and the normal Hero'esq problems found inthe forums, I was more than happy to put my wife in one. We both run 2.1 (not rooted) and for our needs they're just fine...for now.

I have an upgrade available and added my wife, so 2 Evo's would have been 199.00 each, except for one glaring point: NO ONE HAS THEM in our area, lol... So I figured I'd wait, get my wife a Hero and at least let her enjoy Android for a bit. I'll upgrade to Evo when there are finally some and give her the Evo and then I'll upgrade my daughters phone to an Evo (She thinks they are too big) and give her the newer Hero and I'll take the Evo.

Long and short of it, I really like the Hero and if you can live with it's quirks, then it's really not a bad phone, especially for the price places like Walmart, Radio Shack and Best Buy are selling them (STEER CLEAR OF A SPRINT STORE. They are selling Heros for 150 AFTER rebate)....

I agree, I came from and instink to the hero about a month ago and overall good phone, you cant beat the price. It is at times laggy and frustrating but not bad. I want to root I just dont have mind set. ;)

Bought a Hero back in June on Ebay and LOVE IT. I'm coming from a Blackberry Curve, so it's definitely a fresh of breath air. It allowed me to sell my iPod Touch as well.

The reason I bought it from Ebay was because of my upgrade status -- I'm up for an upgrade in December and didn't want to lose that by buying a phone early from Sprint. I wasn't really too big on the Evo to begin with, but the Samsung Epic 4G looks nice. However, I'm sure there will be a couple of newer Android phones by the time Xmas rolls around that make me drop my jaw even further.

Yes, I got my Hero and my wife's Pixi through Walmart online for $50. For both. I don't regret it one bit. :D You can really find some deals if you just look around a bit.

^^^ this hasn't been an issue for almost a month now. They released an OTA that lets the phone run about a full day with heavy to moderate use.

root it or you won't be happy. its slow, lags, for a to voicemail more then it rings.

root and you will be happy. Don't root, get another phone...

rooting us safe, painless, easy, fun, and makes this the last phone I will buy.
