Hey guys and gals! Thought I'd introduce myself. Name is Jon, I'm 26, and I've been an avid android user since I bought my Motorola Droid on launch day almost two years ago. I'm definitely tech geek, and sometimes guilty of being an early adopter, obviously. I bought a Motorola Xoom on launch day as well, but returned it to wait for the Wifi-Only version. Now I'm planning to wait for the next generation of android tablets before buying one. I love Honeycomb, but I'd rather wait for these tablets to improve a bit.
As for phones, I'm eligible for an upgrade in three days, so I'm definitely looking to upgrade. My Droid has had just about all it can take. I run Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC with Chevy's LV Kernel@800mhz. I confess I've never tried another ROM. Cyanogenmod was the first I tried, and I've loved it (most of the time) ever since. I'm at the point now where I should probably wipe the phone and re-root it just to get it back to a stable state. My Wifi only works intermittently and sometimes I have to load a different kernel or reload the ROM to get it working again.
Since I'm carrying a two year old phone, I'm definitely ready for something new. I'm really excited about the Droid Bionic, especially considering it will be a dual-core 4G phone, and I am grandfathered into an unlimited data plan. I'm a droid fan for sure, but I really want a phone that will be easily modded. That, plus 4G, plus a dual-core processor, 1GB of memory, and a front-facing camera are my prerequisites for a new phone. So the Droid Bionic might not fit so easily with the hack-ability requirement, although Motorola seems more and more wiling to unlock their bootloaders. Any suggestions for current or upcoming Verizon phones?
