Just recently i noticed that the voice was nor working when I was using the sat-nav in the car.
I have looked on my phone and 'hey google" did not work, I then looked at google assistant and it was not installed. I downloaded the the app and installed it, but when i tapped i get a msg saying that Google assistant is not supported on this device.
google voice used to work but i have no idea when it stopped.
I have looked everywhere on how to fix this but just go around in circles.
My normal thing is to wipe the phone, but it takes ages to get it as i want it.

Can someone help me out pls......ta

Ensure your phone’s firmware and the Google app are both updated. Sometimes an update can re-enable support. If you still see the message about lack of support, it’s possible your device might not be fully compatible with this feature or a recent update changed its behavior.

What device do you have? Is it a Samsung? Google and Samsung are working together to remove Assistant and replace it with Gemini. They are forcing this change by removing Assistant and making it uninstallable on some devices, why you're seeing the incompatible message. Let us know if these instructions help you restore voice search on your device.

To activate Gemini with your voice on an Android device, you need to enable "Hey Google" and Voice Match within the Gemini app. You can do this by going to Settings, then Google Assistant features in Gemini, and then turning on "Hey Google" and following the on-screen instructions for Voice Match. [1, 2]
Here's a more detailed breakdown: [1, 2]

  1. Open the Gemini app. [1, 2]
  2. Go to Settings: Tap your profile picture or initial at the top of the screen, then select "Settings". [1, 2]
  3. Access Google Assistant features: Tap on "Google Assistant features in Gemini". [1, 2]
  4. Enable "Hey Google": Locate the "Hey Google" toggle and turn it on. [1, 2]
  5. Set up Voice Match: Follow the on-screen instructions to train Gemini to recognize your voice when you say "Hey Google," says Google Help. [1, 2]
  6. Try it out: From any screen, try saying "Hey Google," and you should see the Gemini notification appear. [3]
For a more natural voice interaction, you can also enable "Gemini Live" and use phrases like "Hey Google, let's talk Live" or "Hey Google, let's talk," says Google Help. [4]
