Hey, I need help!!!

So I'm trying to root my phone and I'm a total noob at the whole hack experience. I'm attempting to install the drivers for the SDK on my pc and I'm getting this message:

Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, reason: HTTPS SSL error. You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings.


What do I need to do?

there is a check box under one of the settings that says Force download. Enable that and try again.

new problem... windows isn't allowing me to install the driver myself when I plug my phone in, and when I try to change it, I'm not allowed.

what version of windows? this step is a little tricky with windows 7

it's Vista, not 64bit

go into device manager
pull up window and search for device manager
select probably the top option (either ADB or Android usb devices)
update driver
browse my computer for device driver
should be in:
c:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver (select entire folder)

also the driver is under disks. its installing automatically and I can't figure out how to make it stop.

my bad it does have it under ADB as well, but the same thing happened when I tried to update the driver.
