what version of windows? this step is a little tricky with windows 7

go into device manager
pull up window and search for device manager
select probably the top option (either ADB or Android usb devices)
update driver
browse my computer for device driver
should be in:
c:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver (select entire folder)

yeah that's when it tells me windows determines that the driver is up to date and does not provide any other options.

also the driver is under disks. its installing automatically and I can't figure out how to make it stop.

my bad it does have it under ADB as well, but the same thing happened when I tried to update the driver. :(
