No. No is it not. I'd rather just get a frontal lobotomy now than broadcast my stupidity by wearing something expensive and useless.

Anyone else get asked this? What other facepalm warrenting comments do you get about your watch?

There are many who say the same about the S Gear.
If it wasn't for the cellular connectivity, I would say the same.
I want soo bad for this watch to work out for me. But really, I know it was a Complete waste of money!
I also traded my Nokia Lumia 1520, Windows Phone, that I totally Loved, for a Note 3, just to setup the watch. Feeling a lot of buyers remorse. But at least I was able to cure my Device Lust, for now!

My $100 G Watch gets a ton of compliments, probably because of how similar a fruity product is to it :)

The problem I have is not that they ask if it's an apple watch, but the fact that I've had this watch way before the apple watch came out and now people ask that question, hahaha. I just tell them that it is better than the apple watch.....

Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Gear S/Gear 1
Samsung Gear Circle
Samsung Gear Level Box

I have had more than one person ask me "Is that an Apple watch."

I want to slap them upside the head.

Just one detail. Samsung Galaxy Gear S is the most independent smartwatch on the market. The Apple strategy is clear: Apple Watch totally depends on iPhone. So if you want an Apple Watch you have only two possibilities: first, you already have a modern iPhone (5 or 6) and second if you can't resist the temptation, you have to go shopping and buy an iPhone and an Apple Watch! Around 1000 bucks to show off!!! (of course avoiding the Apple Watch Edition with 38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case). All this waste of money for a device that hardly reach 18 hours of battery life.
But talking seriously, Apple has a great and loyal base of customers. And also a lot of developers that want to take advantage (and earnings) of the new wave of wearables devices.
Tizen is new for developers. And too many operating systems for smartphones and wearables make their head a mess!
Anyway Samsung is also clever. Using HTML5 development to Tizen, makes easier for Web developers to create apps and they don't need to learn another programming language other than they already use in Web pages.

That's what I point out when I am asked about mine. I mention how the Apple Watch does almost everything on the iPhone and is nearly useless if out of Bluetooth range. If asked, I'll turn off the BT on my phone before I demonstrate the features of the Gear S. Even better is when I am asked about the Gear S when I have left my phone at home like at a birthday lunch celebration last week. Photos and music they seem to expect, but people are floored when you say your phone is at home and you play videos, pull up maps, and call them with nothing but your watch.
