I broke down and ordered the 512gb phone. I am giving the 128gb to my husband or son. I know it won't make a difference in how the phone acts, I just really wanted the bigger one....

Phone addiction is a scary thing.

Good for you. If you use your phone to video and taking picture definitely a bonus for internal storage that size. The 128gb version is plenty for me with 256gb sd for a good measure.

Redmi Note 5 pro and iPhone 6s 64gb

My dailies aren't quite as impressive but i have the Note 9 and the Blackberry Key 2. love both.

I wish I had a fix for my addiction one day hopefully

Lol, I had my S5 for 4 years and was initially planning to wait for the S10. But when the Note 9 announcement came with those massive specs I couldn't resist. Most of the extra features of the S10 don't really matter that much to me. The only real feature of the S10 I would prefer is Sammy's first 7nm processor. And I intend to keep my Note 9 for at least 3 years.

I have said this before but I find yearly incremental upgrades boring. What a massive and delightful experience exploring the Note 9 after the S5. And you know what? I look forward to being wowed again when upgrading my Note 9. Already, for e.g., there are rumours of 10/12 GB RAM for the S10 and there are 4 cameras for the newly announced A9 phones. So i really look forward to what is being offered in 3/4 years again.

Probably 12 plus GB RAM, 4 cameras at the back, a return to high MP resolution, a much improved Bixby, a lower than 7nm processor, 5G, further AI development etc. That's what keeps me motivated and interested and keeps me from upgrading regularly. When i upgrade my Note 9, I want to be just as I excited with all the new features and improved performance as I discovered when I upgraded from my S5.

You won't get that thrill upgrading every year.

If that helps anyone.

We won't judge.

Why don't you get rid of all phones except for the Note 9 and upgrade in the standard 2 years? See how you feel when leaving the upgrade for a decent amount of time.

Are you insane? This is a thread about addiction! You can't just suggest someone get rid of their phones. There are steps involved which take time.

My phone addiction started many years ago but I am not ready to give up the goods yet. I have two Note 9s and a S9+. Oh and ummmm, I'm kinda still using my Note 8.

Don't judge me. Oh and I sleep with my phones. We have a nice relationship going here. Bye.

Your standard of two years isn't standard for others. It's all a matter of preference.

Yeah i know. I wouldn't even make a comment on how often others upgrade except for a thread about phone addiction. It was just a suggestion to help with that. Instead of upgrading every year to just try in 2 years. No skin off my nose to me. Doesn't matter to me.

What you can do also to help compensate the addiction if try a 2 yr upgrade is maybe reward yourself with something you wouldn't normally get. So perhaps try not upgrading for 2 years and maybe get a Galaxy watch or something as a reward.

So instead of buying 3 or 4 phones in a couple of years, possibly try 1 phone in 2 years and a watch, tablet etc. Something you wouldn't normally buy but 2 things in 2 years is cheaper than 3 or 4 of the same item in the same amount of time.

And btw, when i mentioned standard 2 years, I meant standard as in the standard phone contract. Not standard as in " this is the standard length people hang on to their phones".

My name is Pablo and I'm am Android addict. I've been collecting and rooting since 2011.

I've read that the N9 512 should be faster, tho slightly, than the 128, due to the extra room for stuff to run.

My current daily is a Pixel 2 XL. It replaced a rooted Moto Z2 Play, which is now the primary backup phone and carried on my lunch box.
The secondary backup is a Droid Mini.
The most I've had at one time is 4...or was it 5?
