Hi there, my name Is JJ and I'm new to this forum. I'm hoping some of you Android savvy people can help me out with a couple of issues. I have an LG Optimus F7 on the Boost network. Love this phone but I'm seeing an issue with the flash. I can manually make the flash work but it will not flash when taking photos whether I have it set to auto or "on". Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums! It should work automatically with switched to "on". Has this been a recent issue or since you purchased the device?

Enjoy your stay on the forums!

Well I had it for a couple of weeks B4 I used the camera and regardless of the setting, it won't flash when shooting a pic. I can manually cause it to flash but that's it.

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by manually causing it to flash--like with a flashlight app? You mentioned in your first post that it doesn't go on with the "Flash On" setting, which I would have thought was the manual setting to have it flash with every shot.

Maybe you could try going to Settings/Apps/All, select Camera, and Clear Cache and/or Clear Data, then Force Stop it. Then reopen the camera app and see if it works.

Ok I tried to do what you suggested. Settings>Apps>All> and to my surprise there's no app for the Camera on the list.. I'm running Android 4.1.2. The camera app shows up as "camera" on the app menu but not in the settings menu. When you tap on the camera icon, it merely turns on the camera. You can make the flash> "flash" manually by touching the flash icon but for some odd reason it won't flash when set to "on" or "auto". Do I need to download the the newest Camera apk for Android 4.3? Btw, the current camera app is the stock app.

The Camera app should be there.
Try again. Settings>Apps or Application Manager (should be about halfway down; right after Battery)>swipe over to the right to all apps>Scroll down to Camera.

OK so I found the app finally:-) in settings. I cleared the cache(data) then "force a stop" and restarted the phone. Still a no go on the flash working. Would the latest Camera APK for Android 4.3 cure this issue? Thank you guys for trying to help me. So appreciated:-)

Not sure how reliable a stock Camera apk would be, or if it might possibly bork the camera even more. You could try one of the many 3rd party camera apps on Google Play first, to see if they work. I like Camera Zoom FX.
