Hi, I am new to the community. Not new to phones, and electronics though. I joined the community because I want to learn some stuff about phones. I have had a couple android devices in the past, and I like my Evo 4G that I currently have, but I heard that rooting a phone is the way to go with this phone, so I can get the most out of it. I heard about some different apps like a CPU usage one that helps with battery power a lot, and free tethering apps and such, so I am definitely interested in learning more. I tried going through and learning by reading, but it's such a scary world here, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me through it.
Also, before anyone asks, I have seen a couple "don't download the new OTA update!" threads. I read these after I did the update so if that makes my phone unrootable then just let me know. I didn't really get interested until I had a friend show me his phone which battery was barely affected during a full day at work the other day.
