hi all! Im new to this forum. ive never been a member to a forum before but seeing how these androids potential is way out of my league im going to have alot of questions along the way with my phone. for starters, i have a samsung galaxy SGH-T959D running froyo 2.2 . ive had the phone for jsut over a year now and its been great but i really want to upgrade it. my computer runs a windows 8 preview so i think thats the reason kies refuses to work! is there any other way to update my phone without using kies.?

You mean you want to root it? If so, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 without using Kies. So, I would think it would be possible.
