Hide icons in status bar

Is it possible to remove any of the default icons from the status bar? I have so many up there that I barely have any room for notifications. The location icon is pointless. It's there whether you have location turned on or off. I realize this may require rooting, but is it possible?

+1 i'd love to get rid of the alarm, location, not to mention the meebo icon if possible

Yeah, the alarm icon needs to be able to be hidden as well. I always have alarms set so there's no reason to take up that space.

You will need root and would have to edit some framework.apks. I'll give more details later going to bed.sorry.
