hide the soft keys?

Is there any hack out there to hide the soft keys at the bottom of the phone?

Please forgive my question: How experienced or comfortable are you at rooting? Forever and ever, I could never stand having those soft keys taking up screen estate. Since Xposed isn't available yet, I haven't found a mod that does this. However, for now, I'm running this custom ROM that has the nav bar removed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3501611

A big reason I think to hide them is because it will most definitely help reduce the burn in. My gnex had the buttons burnt in pretty bad and watching full screen videos weren't as awesome because if that

Go to play store and get GMD full screen immersive mode! I just got it and it's nice! Just want to buy pro now for $3.86 -_- to remove the color at bottom. You'll see what I mean...it's not a terribly big deal though

Shoot, I used GMD for many years starting with my original Motorola Droid. However, on Marshmallow and Nougat, it crashed way too often, or didn't work in many apps (Google Maps, Camera, etc). It was great in KitKat at one time.

It works really well! It does exactly what you want. The only down side is that you need to have the pro version to remove the thin red bar at the bottom of the screen. I'll be buying it next time my play rewards funds allow. Also to use the keyboard you need to show the buttons first..

I uninstalled it, it gets really annoying how you have to swipe up and then hit a text field to type something..Until that's fixed I can't use it!

I added the GMD app last night and wish I had done it sooner. Absolutely no problems with any apps except a tenth of a second to slide the line up for the keyboard. I wasn't particularly worried about nav button burn in, but it does take that concern away plus ads a bunch of screen real estate. For now I'm sticking with the free version.

Glad I could help it's not really for me. I'm sure I could get used to it but it's annoying using the Google search from pixel launcher how you have to slide up then type
