Hiding Facebook messages

Hey guys so I work for a company who look after at risk kids, trying to look at the kids messages and it seems like he hid his Facebook messages, Instead of receiving notifications as people have messaged him it comes up as you have voice mail but we phoned the voice mail and it comes up with no callers each time the other person we think is messege go him comes up online he gets a notification about his voice mail can anyone help us out to see what app or apps he is using please
