FOR THE TL;DR CROWD

Important features to me:

1) FAST processor. I really want something quick/snappy. No lag/stuttering. Something that won't be completely obsolete in terms of performance in a year or two

2) 2GB or more ram (I want a workhorse remember)

3) stock android experience. I really rather not get something with a heavily altered UI

4) something built well. I hear lots of quality complaints about the nexus 9 and nvidia shield tablet

Micro sd slot is a bonus but not necessary

Idc if it's a major company like Google/nexus or Samsung or a foreign company I may not have heard of

I hear the tegra k1 is the best processor available for tablets now but multiple reviews of the nexus 9 and nvidia shield tablet have me wondering if it's true.

How important is it to future proof my tablet by buying one with a 64 bit processor as that's supposedly gonna be the new norm?

Im pretty much looking for a tablet to replace my old laptop. I intend to use it for everything. As far as android software limitations are concerned I'm not worried. I intend to either dual boot A Linux distro or possibly Windows for my media creation needs.

I definitely don't want a Windows or Apple tablet though as most things I've learned to do on android without even touching Windows.

What say you?

I have looked into nvidia shield tablet. Nexus 7 and 9. Samsung galaxy tab s. Xiaomi (think that's how it's spelled) and a few others.

Any/all help appreciated

Love my tab S 10.5 once I rooted it and running blisspop. No lag fast and good battery life, best screen on the market. A new version should be coming out soon though

Moto X 2014

I second the recommendation of the Samsung Note Pro 12.2. I use mine with MS Office and Evernote and the SPen. I find it super poweful. I bought a refurbished one for a great price, but looks and runs like new.

I can't comment on stock Android I my wife has it on her Nexus 7 and pretty much what I had on my old Motorola Xoom. I like a launcher with a a lot of options. I have 3 Samsung devices but I personally greatly dislike TouchWiz. I run Nova Launcher Prime on my phone and on my Note 8 and my 12.2.

I should mention I also have a Surface Pro but I prefer the Note 12.2. Great size, screen and very powerful for work tasks.

The note pro 12.2 seems pretty awesome. I have looked into it a LOT over time. I was mostly deterred by the less than stellar critic reviews.

I love what they did for the s pen software wise. It has one of if not thee most advanced stylus features available today.

I like what Samsung does hardware wise but I don't like the software. The phone I have now has touchwiz (galaxy light. Nothing to write home about) and before that I was faithful to the lg motion because it was a killer deal at the time ($50 promo from metro pcs) I still use them (I own 4 of them) they actually beat my galaxy light by 2-3k points on antutu and they're 2 years older than my galaxy light!

I love stock android. Many xposed modules play well with stock...Many more than touchwiz anyways.

I like the screen on the tab s models but for the same reason as above I really refuse to get them.

I wish they gave users an option between touchwiz and stock. Stock is very light on resources . Doesn't come with tons of apps you can't delete (mine came with Dropbox as well as a few other apps readily available on the play store as system apps)

I had to root it to get rid of the bloatware whichthere was plenty of..

I have a n10 on the way and I'm also looking to but a n7 (2013 edition). Mostly just to get my feet wet plus it's used and one can never have too many tablets in their lives lol.

The pro seems fantastic however I think I might wait for a new edition (hopefully) if I decide to go that route anyways
