High pitched squealing when I try to make a call

When I tried to place a call this morning (shortly after pulling it off the charger), I got a high pitched squealing noise coming through the ear piece. When I connected to the person on the other line, the squealing continued and they couldn't hear me.

I rebooted and it seemed to work.

Any ideas as to why this occurred?

This happened to a few others over on the Verizon forum and they suggested *228 (option 2) to update the cell towers in my area.

I just want to make sure I don't have a defective Incredible. Thanks.

Howdy Chondog, while I don't have a true answer for you as of yet I experienced this same issue this morning. I just got a new replacement from VZW and on my first call i had this noise, and like you said a reboot seemed to quell the issue as I've made about 5 calls since then. Also before it happened I was streaming radio at full speaker volume so maybe that had something to do with it...overlapping something or other.

I assume you haven't had any other issues with squealing?

*228 Option 2 updates roaming towers. Try Option 1, it will reprogram your phone with the basic tower/system info AND update your roaming list.

...my $.02 :)

This occurred for me on a few calls during the first week. I found clicking the speakerphone on and then off cleared the high pitched tone.

I still have not been able to reproduce the issue since then.
