I think they need to be moved to the phone first. In fact I'm pretty sure of this. But I agree, highlight videos are probably the feature HTC should be pushing. Anyone who asks me what my phone does special I just show them a highlight and how it takes no effort to make one.
I agree that highlights are great, but on that same note, when they ask you if you can put the pics you want highlights to highlight then thats when you have to give them the workaround..Workarounds are never good for advertising! We trluy have no control over what our phones Highlight (out the box) unless we create a folder and add only the pics we want to that folder......NOT COOL, especially when it looks like we can pick the pics (but we really can't) when in the original event folder! The feature sorely needs an update!! For me, the best features of this phone are that it just works...there's no stutter, no lag, no constant resets, awesome screen, integrated Beats and front speakers..AWESOME.. Zoes and highlights are respectable, but IMHO...the user needs much more control over highlights and we need the option to create a longer highlight...without having to add apps to splice videos together and doing workarounds. You can't make a selling point out of something that's not really finished because if people buy in and truly see it's limitations, then the phone will lose it's footing. HTC needs updates to the highlight feature and the camera. I believe Ultrapixels work, but I also believe the software managemet needs work.
So, you ask why not advertise more anyways right? Samsung advertises air gestures and eye scroll on a very laggy phone that also doesn't live up to expectations...True! But, it's Samsung and they've already carved out there market and to some degree the SGS4 followers/users love their devices just like Iphone users love their devices. They are loyal! HTC users don't have that loyalty. HTC has had too much negative publicity from poor pedigree and how they manage their software and updates. So, they can not just advertise wonky stuff until they truly get it right! We need updates to this phone and we knew that when we purchased it! The ball is in HTC's court to show us that they will get it done! Because, if they don't update their devices, polish the highlight feature, and update the ultrapixel camera with better management of high contrast scenes then this will be the last best HTC phone we will get or even want to buy. As an early adopter, I love my ONE, but I don't want advertising money to take away from polishing off such an awesome phone.
Apple advertises rock solid features that people can just identify with. That's why they are winning! Samsung is bombarding us with ads to make us think we are missing out on something.... I'm hoping that HTC is using the philosphy that LESS IS MORE! We will know our destinies with our choice if our updates start flowing soon, then our phones can truly be bragged about and advertised for their supreme advantages over the competition!!
Until then enjoy your phone folks, it's beautiful and loaded with potential!!
