Hi,

The family account my wife and I share are due for new phones in December. I want to ensure we get the best deal. Can anyone provide me with some hints?

Also, any suggestions for phones to look at would be useful. I am leaning to a Droid Turbo. My wife is looking for a replacement for her Samsung S3, something she can put in her pocket.

Thanks,

Jerry

What plan are you on?

Do you have unlimited data and are trying to keep it?

Do you happen to have Comcast service?
Deals come and go. The best deal right now for the turbo is getting paid $100 to sign a contract for the Droid Turbo.

And you don't have to be a Comcast subscriber to take advantage of the deal.

We are on one of the Family share plans from 2 years ago. We are capped at 4 GB of data per month. I have a Comcast account for my home TV and Internet.

Also, I have read that there was a deal where you could get a credit for trading in a existing smart phone. I have an old iPhone 4 with burned out Wifi (thanks Apple) siting in my junk phone pile. Does anyone know if that deal is still available?

The iPhone deal is over. Check this thread out. http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=467472

I don't know if you can get more then 1 gift card. You also might want to look at changing to more everything with 10gb of data. Then order the phones on edge. You would get a $25 discount per line

It depends on whether or not you want to deal with the rebate. But it would make more sense financially speaking to go on contract if using the deal I posted with the rebate over edge, since going on edge would cost you $70 more over 2 years if on a 10gb or higher plan. Of course if you don't have the money up front then edge would make sense.

Interesting that you mention Edge. Does purchasing phones on Edge cost less if you don't change phone mid contract?

If you go on edge with 10gb of data you get a $25 discount per line. Something like the IPhone 6 16gb costs about $27 plus tax on edge. So on edge the phone will cost you about $50 over 2 years with no upfront cost. On contract the phone will cost $200.

Verizon Edge is definitely worth a look. The best deal is probably ordering from Comcast. The $200 rebate is worth it. They told me when I ordered it on the phone that it would take 4 weeks.
