Is it worth getting the LT for $80 or is it better to spend $130 for the Pro? It's only $50 extra but looking at it another way, the Pro costs 60% more.
If it was a gift for a high school or college student, it would be easy to justify the extra cost for the Pro. However, the two people I'm thinking of are
1. a 10 year old who currently shares a 3 year old family computer
2. a 50+ non-techie who only uses the computer for email and web
They are in two different households, so you can answer differently for the two cases if you like.
Also, I would set up email etc for the older relative (the 10 year old probably needs no help ) so I'm more concerned about the daily user experience, not configuration. Is the LT fast enough for someone who is used to a laggy windoze machine? Does the slightly bigger screen of the Pro make a real difference in daily use?
If the choice was to buy one of them a Pro, or buy them each an LT, would that change your answer?
Thanks for any first-hand feedback.
